Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), chemically named 3 -- β -hydroxyl androsterone -- 5 -- ene-17 -- one, is a kind of cholesterol △5, 6 double bond and esterification 3 -- β -hydroxyl steroid. Its molecular formula is C19H28O2, The molecular weight is 288.41Chemicalbook, melting point is 151℃ ~ 153℃, rotation +5.5°, is a precursor of adrenal hormone secreted by the reticular layer of human adrenal cortex, has the physiological activities of regulating obesity, preventing diabetes, fighting carcinogenic and viral infection, improving memory, immune response and stress response, reducing tension and so on. It is the manufacture of steroid hormone intermediates, and participates in the synthesis of adrenal gland secretion of various hormones.
There are two crystal types. Acicular crystal, melting point 140 ~ 141℃; Microlobular crystal, melting point 152 ~ 153℃. It's dextrorotatory.
